I think what bothers me the most is the apology. If you don’t like black people, that’s cool. Just don’t punk out when things get hot and offer up an apology when people “freely express” their opinion about you. I seriously don’t think he believes people wouldn’t get upset about it when they found out. To all those who feel race isn’t a touchy subject, here ya go.
While President Bush is pardoning people before his term in office ends, Sarah Palin gets the opportunity to pardon an Alaskan turkey. I’m sure the turkey appreciates that has he watches his boys get slaughtered on camera during an interview with Palin. While I’d like to leave Palin alone, she really needs to stop giving us material to go after. I wonder if Saturday Night Live will do a skit about this interview.
Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your turkey dinner. I know I will (what can I say, I’m carnivorous).
The man hasn’t even been sworn in yet and the political cartoons about is first day are already coming. With any president you’re going to have critics, but let’s give him a chance! Remember, GW still has until January 20th to reek more havoc on America.
While I may not agree with the overall message, I thought the cartoon was funny. It reminded me of something I’d see on South Park and the old school Batman scene really cracked me up. Whether you agree with Obama’s policy or not, he was the best man for the job. No one thinks he’ll fix all the problems we face as a country over night. It took eight years to screw it up, so I think it’ll take a little longer to fix it. Change is scary for a lot of people (me included), but in the end we tend to see it wasn’t as bad as we thought it would be.
I received this in an email. Every time I look at it I just bust out laughing. It just doesn’t look right. I guess it won’t sink in for me until inauguration.
Tomorrow is the big day and as all the votes are coming in I’ll be at the Ultimate Election Watch Party (more info to follow later). I talked with a lot of people regarding the election this weekend. All had early voted and like me were in awe to have the opportunity to elect the first black President of the United States. Before casting my vote, I just stepped back and looked at the screen. I never thought I’d ever get the chance to do this, but this hasn’t been the first time I’ve been wrong.
If you’re a regular reader, you’ll know there is more to my vote than race. Obama is not the first African-American to run for office. I thought from the beginning that he should be VP to Clinton, then make a run for President. I honestly didn’t think he could take the Clinton Machine down. But after his announcement stating his intent to run I was down. What impressed me the most was when said in an interview, that he wasn’t running the race to be a Vice President. He knew from the very beginning what he wanted to do and I could respect that.
In talking to some of my friends I found they had a similar reaction to the one I had in the voting booth. They said they reviewed and re-reviewed the screen before submitting their vote. No one wanted to mess this one up. A lot of people also admitted that they were still nervous despite what the polls were saying. I think the last election made us paranoid because I have to admit I had the same feeling also. Something has to come up at the last minute to cause some sort of controversy. Even the writers of the Simpsons have something to say about it. I guess we’ll see tomorrow.
If you haven’t gone already, good luck at the polls.
Cool video. Glad to see them back. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long. Talk about making a statement. The next president has a lot of work ahead of him.
My bad everyone. I had no idea. I guess I’m more popular than Joe the Plumber now!
Okay, this is the funniest video I’ve ever seen. I love technology. Thanks to Joel for sending this to me. I had tears in my eyes laughing. I think it may have been the old lady. Hopefully it won’t come to this.
Sarah Palin’s appearance on Saturday Night Live has been the talk of the weekend. She didn’t say much, but the skits were hilarious. The Weekend News Update was the highlight of the night. When the moose came out, I just about lost it. Poor moose.
For my hip-hop audience: Did the beat in the background sound familiar? It was altered some, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. I’ll give $10 in Monopoly money to the first person who guesses it!
If you know someone who brags about the bling around their neck and wrist, tell them to go home with all that noise. The days of Mr. T, Slick Rick, Run DMC and Salt N Pepa are back! Gold is king once again, so if you still have your dookie rope chain from the ’80s you might need to break it out or sell it (if it’s real).
When I first heard this song on the radio, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. The Internet hit “It’s So Cold In the D” by T-Baby was being played on the Rickey Smiley Morning Show and they were digging it (actually laughing at it). Of course when you’re on the radio you have to bleep out every cuss word so it sounded like someone was checking out groceries at the store. I have to admit I laughed hard that day and every other time they played it, but there’s a real story behind the song.
This morning Rickey and the Nutz were talking with T-Baby on the phone. She wrote the song after her friend was killed and it was her way of expressing how cold-hearted people the world can be. When a love one dies, people tend to have different ways of expressing their grief/frustration. T-Baby chose to make a video about life in the hood of Detroit and I can respect that. This is what hip hop is about. It’s all about expression and this song gives us some insight to what’s going on in her life.
Here is the video. If you are offended by cussin’, you might not want to watch this. The flow could be a lot better and the video is poorly done, but it is what it is. And be careful, it’s very catchy so if you listen to it too much you’ll be singing it all day. Enjoy.
