Last Week to Early Vote
The message for Monday is to go early vote. This is the last week before Super Tuesday.
I went last week and fulfilled my obligation and right as an American to have my voice heard. Whether or not that will happen is another story, but I can’t say I didn’t try.
There are a lot of misconceptions about voting, like the straight ticket issue. If you vote straight ticket, you are voting for everyone in that party. There’s no need to do a separate vote for President, although I would urge you to review the summary screen before placing your vote. I personally voted for each elected office separately. I like to see who all is on the ballot because I’m not always for each candidate. Another thing is the electronic vote is just as good as the paper vote. All votes will be counted and hopefully this year we won’t have too many issues.

I early voted last Friday and it felt like a weight off my shoulders! I know w/ the electoral college and all my vote will get engulfed by millions who will vote for McCain/Palin. However, whatever we can do symbolically with the popular vote in Texas will be interesting to see.
I also agree with you that I didn’t vote straight ticket. There were some folks on the Republican ticket I support such as Ed Emmett here in Harris County. The local elections are just as important as who’ll run the whole show and we all owe it to ourselves to do our homework and make our votes count in our neighborhoods as well.
I know how you feel. Texas is a lost cause for Obama, but I hope people show up to bump up the popular vote number. While it may not mean much, I think it’ll make people recognize how important this election has become. It’ll definitely be good for those running on a local level.
At my polling place it only took me 10 minutes to vote. They were pretty organized.
I took care of it today. It took less than 10 minutes. I definitely saw it as one of those “moments” I’ll remember in my life. The first time a black man was on the ballot for President of the United States of America. A huge moment for this country.
