Please mark your calendars for 7 p.m. on Election Night (November 4th) for the “It’s All The Way Live” Election Watch Party hosted by Friendship-West Baptist Church and Dallas South. Halloween Display Has Palin Hanging by a Noose

Not cool. While I may not be a fan of the Palin/McCain ticket, this is taking it a little too far. The police are not calling it a hate crime because it was part of a Halloween display. In my opinion, they need to take it down because it could potentially cause other problems. If the police allow it ‘in the name of Halloween’, I expect others to pop up around the country. All you’re doing is giving people an excuse to act crazy.

Assassination Plot Targeting Obama Disrupted
This is why I get so pissed when people question Obama’s patriotism. By even placing his name in the running for president, he immediately placed his life on the line for his country. While the numbers may be few, there are some crazy, hateful people out there who’d be willing to try and pull this off. I’m sure every president has assassination plots against them at some point and time, but I just feel it’s more of a reality if Obama were to win. Regardless what your political affiliation may be, we need to continue to pray for him, his family and those who protect him. This is definitely an act of terrorism and I hope it’s treated that way.

Last Week to Early Vote
The message for Monday is to go early vote. This is the last week before Super Tuesday.
I went last week and fulfilled my obligation and right as an American to have my voice heard. Whether or not that will happen is another story, but I can’t say I didn’t try.
There are a lot of misconceptions about voting, like the straight ticket issue. If you vote straight ticket, you are voting for everyone in that party. There’s no need to do a separate vote for President, although I would urge you to review the summary screen before placing your vote. I personally voted for each elected office separately. I like to see who all is on the ballot because I’m not always for each candidate. Another thing is the electronic vote is just as good as the paper vote. All votes will be counted and hopefully this year we won’t have too many issues.

When did the black vote shift Democratic?

In high school, I remember sitting in U.S. History learning only what I needed to pass the exam. I used to say that’s “his-story”, not “my-story”. But little did I realize that “my-story” and “his-story” very closely intertwine with each other.
During this election, there’s been a lot of talk about the Constitution and what the forefathers of this country meant in the writing of one of America’s most treasured documents. I’ve heard the Republicans argue their party is the “party of Lincoln” who freed the slaves and pushed for major changes in civil rights in America. I’ve heard discussions about socialism, communism, capitalism and every other type of -ism out there. There’s so much information out there and at times it can get pretty overwhelming.
My question is how many of these people really know what they’re talking about? The political pundits aren’t giving me anything and it seems like both sides are trying to scare you into voting for their party. Who do you trust? We’ve been bamboozled twice in the past eight years, so I’ve made up my mind to base my decision on the performance of the candidates during the election. All the promises we’re hearing are just that. Promises. Bush told everyone he would be the one to “cross party lines” and you see how well that’s gone.
I feel when you vote you have to go with your gut. Learn what you can about the candidates and be prepared to hold them to their word. We live in the Information Age and we have more of it than we can possibly consume. I’ve learned a lot about the need to understand the past.
Through blogging I’ve had the opportunity to learn a lot from people all over the world. So why not try it again?
If the Republican Party was the one who freed the slaves, what caused the shift moving the black vote to the Democratic Party?

I received an email from a reader asking me to showcase this video from Jasiri X regarding the current events in America, including the campaign. I’ve heard his music before and for those who listen to the Michael Baisden Show he gets a lot of love and support from them also.
While some may want to focus on the negative side of hip-hop, I like to showcase those who have a message. Whether that message is one of hope or one detailing life from a point-of-view we tend to ignore, you can’t deny the impact its had on our society. It’s an outlet and when used in the right way can really be used to make a difference.
The REAL Sarah Palin on SNL
Sarah Palin’s appearance on Saturday Night Live has been the talk of the weekend. She didn’t say much, but the skits were hilarious. The Weekend News Update was the highlight of the night. When the moose came out, I just about lost it. Poor moose.
For my hip-hop audience: Did the beat in the background sound familiar? It was altered some, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going crazy. I’ll give $10 in Monopoly money to the first person who guesses it!
America Loves Joe the Plumber
Last night during the presidential debate Joe Wurzelbacher name was called 23 times by the candidates. He’s an average American who questioned Obama’s tax plan during his recent visit to Toledo. Obama stopped and answered his question and continued meeting with the voters. McCain brought Joe up first and in my opinion it was a good idea.
No one wants to pay taxes and I think McCain and Obama’s tax plan both seem to have some good things in it. The question is how many people really understand what each plan will do? Sure we hear the Repubs talk about socialism and Dems about giving the oil fat cats a break, but in the end does it really matter? At some point in time we’re all going to have to pay for the excessive spending in Washington. You can’t pay for a war, give everyone health care and lower taxes for all Americans. Something has got to give and at some point, the President will have to face the American people and tell them the government needs money.
I don’t think either tax plan is as cut and dry as we think. I’m sure there’s more to each plan than we are being told. Not to mention these ” tax plans” each candidate has haven’t even gotten to Congress. Both sides are so bitter with each other, it’ll have to be packed with earmarks before it can be passed.
It’s frustrating and I can’t wait until all of this is over. Then hopefully we can rid our minds of all the soundbites and campaign ads and get back to business. A smaller government will never exist and I wish people would just get over it. At the same time I hope we’ve come to realize that you shouldn’t rely on the government for anything and need to be proactive in making your dreams happen. All Joe did was repeat the same thing the elite media is saying. That’s not news. All it shows is how politicians can pimp a situation and make it bigger than it should have been. Joe’s question will never be answered until a bill is put on the table because nothing in Washington is for certain. I’m sure like every American, Joe is tired of being left in the dark.
