Here's the petition in case your Texes-based readers want to sign it. Currently at almost 20,000 signatures.

While I probably won't Open Carry, it's a human right even recognized by the second amendment to the Constitution (what else does "bear arms" mean?). 'bout time it's legal as well.

A little fact your readers may be interested in, the very first local and state gun laws in this country were part of the Jim Crow laws.

The first Federal laws were in 1934 (the NFA Act of 1934) which required paying taxes on guns of certain lengths, or that fired in full-auto (which were very common at the time, especially after WWI vets returned). That NFA act was just to keep revenue agents who had been enforcing prohibition busy (this became the ATF), and was shot down as unconstitutional the first time it was brought to a Federal Court (Miller). Prosecution appealed and the defense never attended the case before the Supreme Court. It's an abomination that that uncontested and unconstitutional act was upheld by the Supreme Court.
