Photo Phenish: The Outsider
This is the first of many pictures I wanted to share with you in the Photo Phenish. Have you ever felt like the duck in the background? This photo makes me think how I felt on my first day at college. I’d gone to majority black schools all my life, so attending Texas A&M was definitely a culture shock. But as I’ve stated in many posts before, attending A&M was good for me. I met a lot of great friends (including my wife) and learned a lot about myself and the world around me in the process. Sometimes you’ve got to step out of your comfort zone to make things happen. That’s the only way change can happen.

Wow Theo! That picture captures it all. The outside duck is even a darker hue! But you know what? That duck will eventually find some other like minded ducks of similar background and kick it with them. They’ll do things like hang out at the Commons, go to parties hosted by Greek ducks, and mentor younger ducks as they arrive on the scene. Eventually though, they’ll worry less and less about being outside ducks and just be focused on getting that Ring and Paper. Then it’s time to leave the pond and see the rest of the world and all of its other ponds.

LOL. I got more duck photos to come. If watch them long enough their pretty interesting. One of the white ducks will attack kids if they get close enough.
