I Don’t Want to Go to School My Ass!
I’m sure I’ll catch some hell for bashing a kids song, but it’s Friday and this kinda bothered me. I was watching Spongebob Squarepants on Nickelodeon with my son and heard them advertising the song “I Don’t Want to Go to School” by the Naked Brothers Band on a commercial.
I’ve defended hip hop music and I realize not all of it is good for young ears (or even adult ears). I also realize the affect it has on the black community and society as a whole. But what gets me is why this song was chosen to be played on a kids station (teens are kids too) and why weren’t the parental censorship groups out there protesting? Sure the Naked Brothers Band is one of those teensational groups, but need to be held responsible for their lyrics. Kids look up to them.
I’m going to write a song called “You Better Get Your Butt to School, Right Now!”. Because that’s exactly what my kid will hear when I hear him utter those words. A song doesn’t have to talkabout ho’s, poppin caps or gettin dollas to be censored in my opinion. Am I making too big a deal about this? Or do you feel this was a post to get away from the discussing something of real substance? You tell me.

I know I Dont Want To Go To School is the best message in the world, but im sure that most kids think that. I am pretty sure that my kids think that as i did when i was a kid. I dont like them singing that, but i do like them singing some other songs from them. You have to look behind the name of the band. They made the name when the kids were 3 and 1 in the bathtub. You should listen to a few other songs by them such as Eventually which says: And the Sun will find us all eventually, meaning, that if someone is going through some tough times, they will get through it. Nat Wolff said himself “I wrote Eventually to give inspiration to people who are going through tough times” The kids are just kids living a rockstar life. I enjoy the show myself. The show is scripted, and it is not how the kids acually live even thought the show is made to look like a documentary. The kids do go to a regular school just like other kids. You should give them a chance. in their newwest movie, the main focus is helping the environment. I have heard a lot of bad reviews about them, and most of them have not looked at many of the episodes if any, or looked into their music, and just putting a lable on them for ONE song
