Harvard Univ. Targets Lower & Middle Income Families
Harvard University has recently revamped it’s financial aid program to ensure families with incomes below $60,000 are not asked to contribute to the cost of sending their children to Harvard. I blogged last year about Texas Tech having a similar program and wanted to spread the word about this program.
Now don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of great colleges out there and I do believe HBCU’s also offer a quality education. I just feel this is another opportunity for a struggling student to get a degree without having to go into debt. College can be expensive and it doesn’t always guarantee you a job after you graduate. But a quality education can benefit you in ways you’d never imagine.
At any rate, if you or someone you know falls within the income range and has the scores to get accepted, please pass this on. My momma always told me, the worst they can do is say ‘no’.

This would go a long way to helping young grads of the future start with some sense of financial freedom once they graduate. It’s a great thing. Now to teach them not to do dumb things with their money that will get them in debt in other ways.
Hey how about your boy Obama last night? Can’t wait to see the New Hampshire returns on Tuesday night.

I know. Sadly they don’t teach money management classes in school.
I’m shocked about Obama. If he gets New Hampshire, it’s going to be a hit to the other candidates. His message is one of hope and it’s something people are wanting to hear.

With college costs continuing to rise, this would help. If I were to go to Harvard, I’d probably need the help too!
I like Obama’s message of hope and change. I also think what he is saying is that we all know the problems but what we need is a fresh perspective and someone who can make solving the problem more important than holding on to political sides. However, he needs to start getting a little more specific because people will start to perceive him as being too vague. But then again, look at where picking sides has got us. The country is at war with itself.

I actually like the fact that he is not making a whole bunch of promises. A President is the leader of the U.S., but they still have to rely on Congress getting the ball rolling. He could make as many promises as he wants, but there has to be some compromise on both sides for the system to work. Hopefully he could put an end to all of the bickering and fighting in our government.

That’s an excellent point Theo. Presently, most people will vote for a candidate based on his record and whether or not that record matches with theirs. Maybe he can get people to look past that because that hasn’t made things any better. We can solve problems together but it takes a special kind of leader to facilitate that. Maybe he can present himself to be that kind of leader; a leader that all sides can listen to and trust.
